Read this if you are connecting a Daisy cash register to Flexy. The cash register only accepts receipts from Flexy in "Фискален принтер – РС" (fiscal printer – PC) mode. In this mode it works as a fiscal printer controlled by the software: it prints fiscal and non-fiscal receipts and reports, and stores items, departments and payments.
Entering PC mode
The register has six modes: Registration, Reading, Reset, Programming, Fiscal memory and PC. You move between them with the mode key.
- Switch the register on.
- Use the mode key to get to "PC _ _ _ _ _ _".
- Enter the password for the mode and confirm it with the password-confirm key. If you don't know the password, ask your service company.
- The register is now waiting for commands from Flexy. Leave it in this mode while you work.
To leave, switch to another mode with the mode key. While the register is in another mode, Flexy cannot print.
Daisy's manuals draw the keys as symbols, so they are described here by what they do. If you're not sure which is which, check the keypad legend at the start of your model's manual.
Connecting to the computer
Daisy cash registers connect to the computer over USB as a virtual serial port. For a Windows computer, the "STM32 Virtual COM Port" driver is on the register's product page.
The manuals give no speed for the cash registers, except for some models with an RS port. If you connect the register with a serial cable, set the same speed in Flexy as on the register. If you don't know what it is, ask your service company.
The differences between models are below.
- You switch it on by holding down the power key.
- It connects to the computer over USB. There is also a cable for a serial COM port on a computer, but its speed is not described.
- Bluetooth: enter PC mode and press the Bluetooth key given in the manual. A Bluetooth icon appears on the display.
- To pair, hold down the alternate-function key and press the Bluetooth key. The register asks "Connect as: 1. Bluetooth classic 2. Bluetooth low energy". Press 1; it shows "Ready to Pair as BTC".
- In Flexy, search for the register and pair it. The computer shows a number, and the same number must appear on the register. Confirm on the register.
- Bluetooth low energy needs a special app, so use 1 for Flexy.
- To switch Bluetooth off, press the Bluetooth key again. For larger amounts of data the manufacturer recommends USB.
- Here the mode key is also the power on/off key.
- It connects to the computer over micro USB, with a USB-A to micro USB cable.
- Bluetooth: as on the Compact M. Enter PC mode, switch Bluetooth on and pair as a classic device.
- The computer connects to the register's USB output. The connection can also be over RS232.
- The two RS ports are for a scale and a barcode reader. For RS2 to work with a computer instead of a scale, system parameter 15 "Тип везна" (scale type) must be 0. Ask your service company to set it if you're not sure.
- The RS speed is not described in the manual.
- Here you choose modes from the main menu with the + and – keys.
- Select PC and confirm with the confirm key. Enter the password and confirm again.
- The connection can be over RS232, USB or GPRS. The register has a separate output for the computer and separate ones for a scale and a barcode reader.
- The speed is not described in the manual.
Adding it in Flexy
- Open "Организация" (organisation) → "Устройства" (devices) → "Добави" (add). Pick the register under "Открити от кутията" (found by the box) if it is there, or pick "Фискален принтер" (fiscal printer).
- Set "Марка" (brand) to Daisy and "Серия или протокол" (series or protocol) to your model. For a cable, pick "USB (кабел)", press "Търси устройства" (search for devices) and pick the register under "Открити от кутията" (found by the box). For a serial cable, pick "Сериен порт (COM)" and set "Скорост (бода)" (baud rate). For Bluetooth, use "Bluetooth на компютъра" (computer's Bluetooth) → "Търси" (search) → "Сдвои" (pair).
- Save and press "Тестов печат" (test print).
Daisy does not tell Flexy that it is not in PC mode. If the register is in another mode, Flexy simply gets no answer. In that case see The register is not in PC mode: Flexy does not print.
Daisy fiscal printers
Daisy fiscal printers (FX 1200C, FX 1300, FX21) have no PC mode. They always work under the software's control. The FX 1200C and FX 1300 connect to the computer over USB. If you use their RS port, the speed is in system parameter 21 (9600 by default). Set the same speed in Flexy as on the printer. The mobile FX21 also connects over Bluetooth: when pairing, the same number appears on its display and on the computer.
